Distribution project for Ukrainian films in the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic based in Prague. Born in early 2024 – with the KINOWAR charity screening on the anniversary of the invasion. Introducing the Czech audience to contemporary Ukrainian cinema – quality festival films – documentary films capturing contemporary Ukraine.

CHARITY SCREENING

KINOWAR is more than a showcase of unique films that audiences rarely have the opportunity to see. It is more than a fundraising initiative. KINOWAR is a community that keeps attention focused on Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine and its persistent information and political influence campaigns across Europe. It serves as a platform for dialogue, awareness, and solidarity — a call to action to defend freedom of expression, democratic values, and the right of nations to determine their own future.

PROGRAM STATEMENT

Kinovarta plans a theatrical release of the film in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, supported by a targeted campaign aimed at both local audiences and the Ukrainian community. The release strategy combines festival exposure, special event screenings, partnerships with cultural institutions, and subsequent VOD distribution. The goal is to position the film as a significant contemporary Ukrainian title and expand its reach beyond diaspora audiences.

The film “You Are the Universe” opened the largest science fiction festival Future Gate in Eastern Europe at the most festive cinema in Prague — Lucerna and will be screened in eight cities across the Czech Republic.

ARMY FILM FEST

Two Ukrainian films — “Summertime in Ukraine” and “Full Force” — have been selected for the program of the Czech Army Film Fest, which this year is taking place for the first time under the patronage of the current Czech Minister of Defence, Jana Černochová. The screenings will be held at the iconic Prague cinema Atlas.

In February 2026, screenings of Ukrainian documentary films will take place in Prague. Traditionally, all funds raised will be donated to support Ukraine. This year's festival program included films such as Militantropos, Diviya, Second Wind, and others.

Media course

KINOVARTA and PROUA, with the support of MasterFilm, Krutón Distribution, and InBáze, are launching a screening series of the Ukrainian film The Editorial Office. Proceeds from ticket sales will support the organization and implementation of a hands-on training program for Ukrainian youth in the Czech Republic who aspire to build careers in media and communications.
